There is a real need for adequate and comprehensive information regarding ecotourism in Southern Africa, aimed at local and international ecotourists. This includes the whole spectrum from luxury accommodation, budget establishments to camping and self-drive holidays, as well as organised ecotours. The real problem is that there are many establishments calling themselves 'eco', but on close examination, the word 'eco' is stretched and misused, resulting in a confused and misled customer. Further challenges are insufficient streetwise information for off-road driving in Africa; as well as lack of ethical standards and responsible practices when camping and travelling in Africa. Eco Explore Africa was established to assist the traveller to make an informed choice by us presenting an information platform for Eco graded establishments; mainly Lodges, hotels and campsites that are verified to be true 'eco'. This is a community service to assist the prospective traveller and to build an eco-awareness. We are are a team: Johan and Annica - have both have completed FGASA accredited course and are WRSA (Wildlife Ranching South Africa) members. They recently we had enough of city life and retreated to a non-commercial Eco-game farm in Limpopo. Johan is also a wildlife photographer, seasoned traveller. Annica has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Heinrich has for over 30 years dedicated his life to being behind the cameras and has produced many award-winning documentaries, and gathered extensive knowledge from his countless Southern African overland travels. Over the past twenty years, we all have travelled extensively in Southern and Central Africa with our cameras and notebooks in hand, from luxury lodges to 4x4 wild camping. Ecotourism, nature conservation, and nature - wildlife photography are a passion for all of us.
